RoutPath Beta Tester Terms

Last updated:

Template pending legal review. This agreement is a plain-English template and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It may change before or during the beta.

These terms apply to anyone who takes part in the RoutPath beta program ("the beta"). "We" and "us" means the RoutPath team. "You" means the beta tester. RoutPath, including the browser app at app.routpath.com and any desktop builds we may provide later, is called "the software".

1. Agreeing to these terms

You agree to these terms by checking the box "I have read and agree to the RoutPath Beta Tester Terms" on the beta application form, or by using the software as a beta tester. If you do not agree, do not apply and do not use the software.

2. Pre-release software, provided "as is"

The software is pre-release. It is unfinished, may contain bugs and errors, and may produce incorrect toolpaths or G-code. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. Features may change or be removed at any time.

3. Machine safety is your responsibility

CNC machines are dangerous. You are solely responsible for the safe setup and operation of your machine and for checking every toolpath, simulation and G-code file before you run it. Always verify tool, stock and zero settings, run a dry run or air cut when in doubt, stay with the machine while it runs, wear suitable protection and keep an emergency stop within reach.

You are responsible for any damage to your material, tools, bits, machine, workshop or other property, and for any injury, that results from using the software or G-code it produces.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of material, tools, equipment, data, time, profits or business, arising from or related to the beta or your use of the software, even if we were told such damage was possible. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the amount, if any, you paid us for beta access. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so some of this section may not apply to you.

5. Confidentiality

The beta is private. Unless we give you permission in writing (email is fine), please do not share beta builds, download links, access details, screenshots, videos or details of unreleased features with anyone outside the beta. You may of course talk about your general interest in RoutPath and show finished parts you cut.

6. Your feedback

We welcome bug reports, ideas and other feedback. By giving us feedback you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, copy, modify and incorporate it into RoutPath or other products without paying you or crediting you. You are not required to give feedback, and you confirm any feedback you give is yours to share.

7. No redistribution or reverse engineering

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable permission to use the software only for testing during the beta. You may not sell, rent, share, publish or redistribute the software or its builds, and you may not decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer it, or try to bypass any access controls, except where the law expressly allows it.

8. Beta access can end at any time

We may change, pause or end the beta, or your access to it, at any time and for any reason, with or without notice. You may leave the beta at any time by telling us. When your access ends, stop using and delete any beta builds you have. Sections 2 to 7 and 9 continue to apply after the beta ends.

9. Privacy

The beta application form collects your name, email address, country or region, CNC machine make and model, controller, the computer/operating system you would use, whether you are interested in the Windows app, experience level, what you mostly make, your current CAM software, how you heard about RoutPath, any notes you add, and your agreement to these terms.

We use this information only to run the beta: to review applications, contact you about the beta, and understand who is testing. We do not sell it or use it for unrelated marketing. Submissions are delivered to us by email through the third-party form service FormSubmit. You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing the address below.

The software itself runs on your computer, and your designs and G-code are not uploaded to us.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let beta testers know by email. Continuing to use the software after a change means you accept the updated terms.
